there are a few important thoughts and things that made me say, Yup I’m a lesbian. one of them is my favorite people on this earth are queer women. my people are queer women. i felt that all through this summer- spending time with the most energizing group of friends i have ever been surrounded by. lifting each other up, supporting each other, hearing each other, growing spiritually and cosmically, loving unconditionally, LAUGHING so much, talking about everything. the second is that i don’t have to invest my romantic/sexual energy in men IF I DONT WANT TO????/if i am always let down/if i am never feeling satisfied/if i am always feeling like i am TEACHING (god damn that is so tiring). another is DIRTY COMPUTER- like that album……… made me say “I’m gay” out loud, more than i have ever said in my life. The Pynk video is game-changing. another is reading Woman Hollering Creek, Beloved, Sister Outsider. Also the L Word, but we knew that. and also like, realizing the word “lesbian” used to make me feel dirty and shameful, because that’s how it was used around me growing up, as like, this insult. but now i just……… nothing makes me feel sexier than being like, yes I’m a lesbian. !!!!!! and finally, i discovered sex this summer. so, there ya have it.
